Back in June, Microsoft officially rolled out Windows 8.1 Preview with an option to boot directly to desktop and skip the Start screen, telling everyone that this is actually proof that it’s really listening to consumer feedback.

In Windows 8.1 RTM, the company further improved this new feature to also let users go back to desktop when closing all apps on the screen.

As McAkins Online notes, the new option can be easily enabled by right-clicking the Taskbar, hitting “Properties” and opening the “Navigation” tab.

Microsoft hasn’t yet publicly announced this feature, but given the fact that it improves the overall experience on the desktop, expect the company to describe all its benefits during the launch event scheduled to take place on October 18.
