What will happen Rog Rampage 7 to Windows 8?

From what i heard you have great chance that installation fails.
You need to uninstall your AV software, burning software, defrag software. Need to run chkdsk, sfc/scannow. And all that still doesn't guarantee you smooth upgrade.

Better thing to do is dual boot.
When you start upgrade after downloading win8 when the "Install Windows 8" message appears, select "Install by creating media" to create a bootable USB flash drive or an .iso (a disk image) file. Create bootable USB flash drive or burn ISO and install it on separate partition.

It depends upon how you activated your Windows 7. SLIC injection is the only real way to do an upgrade to Windows 8 from ROG. Another way is to install Windows 7 and leave it unactivated.

The problem is that due to certain components removed the upgrade will fail. Exactly like installing a service pack. Like win 7 to win 7 SP1.

PS:
I am not completely against windows 8 and I would work on a ROG edition. There is not much to work with at the moment though. Windows 8 is not there yet if you know what I mean. maybe in a year or so if that is the direction I can work on it. For now until 7 is supported, long live to ROG lol

I do suggest you to create a double boot, like 351837 suggested above, and I wouldn't install W8 into my main SSD, I would install it to HDD instead, because I'm quite sure of that you wanna keep Windows 7 as your main OS, and Windows 8 as secondary OS, and Windows 8 still has too many bugs that it would become our main OS, maybe after a year or so, when Windows 8 have received some Windows Updates, then it might be better already.

I wouldnt bother with windows 8 if I were you. I bought it at the end of January for €15 and it was good for the first three weeks but then it started having problems and it was getting worse by the day until I upgraded to windows 7 a few days ago. I was using windows 7 since it was released and rarely had trouble with it. Windows 8 is a disaster for me.
