Hi Everyone:)

I have done a lot of messing testing checking and so forth with windows 7 so much to the fact I think I fried my brain a bit lol

In the end though it did pay off with the win 7 builds, I give a lot of credit to neuropass as I was so pro xp it was his nudges that gave me a push to try something different and all his help at the start of when I began to mod the windows 7 versions as I was lost to begin with so thanks for all your help neuro

7 Stack : Add Multiple Programs In One Windows 7 TaskBar Icon


The first software programs that are making use of the new features that Microsoft introduced in Windows are slowly appearing on the Internet. One of the first is a program called 7 Stacks which basically allows Windows 7 users to add as much as ten different applications into one icon in the Windows 7 taskbar.

Why would someone want to do that? The answer is space and probably better manageability as well. Instead of having to deal with up to ten separate icons in the taskbar users only have to deal with one that contains all the ten applications that they want to access. This is for instance ideal to combine applications of a similar type, e.g. Internet applications like web browsers, email clients and messengers or Office programs like Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. It’s also possible to combine folders with applications in one Windows 7 icon which could be used to open documents quickly this way that are related to the applications.



A new stack is simply created by right-clicking any open stack in the Windows 7 taskbar and selecting the “Create New Stack” option in the jumplist. This will create a new shortcut which can then be pinned to the taskbar and customized there.

An update is available that allows for a potential power saving in an AMD multicore processor that is running an x64-based version of Windows Vista SP2, of Windows Server 2008 SP2, of Windows 7, or of Windows Server 2008 R2

The update in itself is worth a download and an install, to make post-Vista 64-bit platforms play nice with Enhanced C1 state (C1E) for lower power consumption for an AMD multicore processor. But what is interesting is that under Hotfix Support for Windows 7/Windows Server 2008 R2 it says SP1 (Service Pack 1) and SP3 for Vista.

HOTFIX INFORMATION

The local Advanced Programmable Interrupt Controller (APIC) timer is programmed to count even when it is not being used. Therefore, the local APIC timer runs in the C1 sleep state continuously at a constant rate regardless of performance state (P-state) transitions. This behavior causes the computer to consume unnecessary power. However, AMD processors support an inactive state for when the CPU APIC timer is not being used. Therefore, an AMD processor can enter the low-power C1E state. This low-power state saves up to an additional 10 percent in power.

If your processor supports the C1E state, you can apply this update to allow for the potential power savings of the C1E sleep state.
